for CA-Clipper/Mediator
The time of WANs
The Terminal for
CA-Clipper/Mediator allows running a CA-Clipper application using Mediator RDD software in
the terminal mode. The application running on Windows NT server replies to the requests of
a user operating a terminal from another PC computer.
The Terminal
for CA-Clipper/Mediator provides centralized, safe and extremely efficient software for
multi-branch companies.
Application of the Terminal/Mediator software
allows to create integrated, safe and scalable systems used for the management of
companies that are geographically scattered. CA-Clipper programs achieve now the
functionality limited to the UNIX and mainframe environments.
How does the
CA-Clipper/Mediator application work in the terminal mode?
The user runs the
terminal emulator on his PC computer, which then connects to the terminal manager run on
the Windows NT Server. Terminal manager runs the desired application linked with Mediator
RDD driver. The application communicates with the terminal by responding to the user's
requests and sending back the screen updates. The data stored in Relational Database
Management System (Oracle, MS SQL Server 7, Sybase SQL Anywhere) is manipulated through
Mediator server. The Mediator server and terminal manager may be run on the same computer
running the Windows NT system. When a large number of applications are run in the terminal
mode, a separate application server may be set up.
Irreplaceable in the wide
area network
The terminal may be efficiently
applied in a wide area network, as the volume of data exchanged between the
CA-Clipper/Mediator application and the terminal is minimal, much less than in the
client-server architecture operations. Even if you are using low throughput links, several
terminals may be operated, which gives the comfort of work for the users only marginally
worse than in a local network. The data for the whole multi-branch company is stored in
the central database (RDBMS) and is always up-to-date, complete and ready for further
processing.
